So some of my hero-worship has to be retroactive. It would be sacrilege otherwise in the wake of an extraordinary moment in history--and the fact that I should've started this blog a long time ago.
So here it is.
Colin Powell became my hero when he endorsed Obama. But I cheered out loud when I finally watched the interview.
To paraphrase: he's not a Muslim, he's a Christian, but the more correct answer, so what if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? I think the reality is we know we're all a little more prejudiced than we'll ever admit. Racism isn't over in this country, but there's progress...
